Sundown Empire is my first stab at long-form ambient music. The piece is largely generative (Moog Matriarch), combined with a few deterministic bass, lead, and percussive elements, and washed in multiple delays (Make Noise Mimeophon and OTO BIM) and reverb (DBA Rooms and Hologram Microcosm).

The original lasted about 10-12 hours, and was composed to accompany a long and fun game of Twilight Imperium. In this version I adjusted the elements (and glacially slow knob twists) to fit the album format.

As per usual, everything was mixed down live, which did cause me some EQ headaches in post, and now I'm looking to add a multitrack mixer/interface to my setup (SSL Big Six) so I can fix stuff later in Ableton. I don't like the idea all that much, but I also didn't like being locked in. Compromises. Definitely more to come.
